Born in Des Moines, Iowa, into the home of a Nazarene pastor and district superintendent and wife, Lane has two brothers and a sister. He gave his heart to the Lord at age four in Hutcheson, KS under the ministry of C.L. Rhodda. He grew up (some would dispute that) primarily in the Northwest, Spokane and Yakima. His only time wrestling on TV, he was pinned during the commercial break.
He attended Northwest Nazarene College (now University) and met his wife Lois there in music groups. One of the most meaningful parts of his education was joining Circle K. He majored in Music Education and Philosophy and Religion. While at NNC, he was the student director of men's intramurals for a year and one half.
He and Lois Robinson (daughter of a career Army Chaplain and a softball team coach) married in the beautiful metropolis of El Paso, Texas, and honeymooned at a motel on Van Buren in Phoenix, AZ. They transferred to Pasadena College (now Point Loma Nazarene University) and finished degrees (thank the Lord). In both schools, he traveled in Summer PR Music Groups. Continuing his education at Cal State LA in Music Education and Chinese History, he earned a life-time teaching credential in California (that let's you know how old he is).
In the 90s, he completed certification in the K-Church Project. He is also a long-time member of the American Association of Christian Counselors and the American Philatelic Society. He has completed New Church University and numerous other professional certifications. He has two eagles, five plaques, and a painting from Dr. Bill Burch and Jan. He was ordained (“finally”) by Dr. Eugene Stowe in the early 90s at the Orangewood Church on the Arizona District.
He did church music part-time from his senior year of high school on, and taught Music in the public schools for four years before going full-time in the Ministry. He and Lois have served at Eugene First, Seattle First, the Youth Department at Nazarene General Headquarters in Kansas City, Denver First, Long Beach, CA First, Salem, OR First and then became senior pastors at Las Vegas First for ten years, where he led them in relocation and several building projects. His last pastorate before retiring was at Redding, CA. First starting late 1998. He served on the Advisory Board of both the Arizona and Sacramento Districts and numerous other boards and committees.
After retirement, he joined New Church Specialties' Transitional Interim Pastor Service and spent 2008 leading Valley Stream Church on Long Island, NY, and 2009 at the West Valley Church in Yakima, Washington.
He and Lois enjoy backpacking and mountain climbing. They have climbed 38 14ers in Colorado, Mount Rainier in Washington, Mount Whitney in California, Mt. Hood in Oregon, Orizaba and Popocatepetl in Mexico, and Pico de Bolivar in Venezuela, as well as climbing the stairs to the second floor of the Tempe Educational Facility and several hills in San Francisco.
They also love traveling and serving in Work and Witness Projects. They have led four teams to Indonesia, three to Papua New Guinea, three to Mexico, and one each to Canada, Guatemala, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Hawaii. They have taken teams to South Africa, Australia, and Europe.
They began their ministry at Tempe Nazarene in May 2010.

Pastor Debbie has been a part of our TNC family since 1983 and the Children’s Pastor for 15 years. She also directs all children’s activities from birth to sixth grade. And if all that isn’t enough, she is also the Director of Tempe Christian PreSchool.
Debbie is a fixture in our young children’s lives. They know her office door is always open so they can get a hug or share their victories and challenges. Debbie teaches the kids how God knows and loves every single one of them, and they see that kind of love in action because Debbie knows the name and circumstances of every child.
Debbie exudes incredible energy and a positive attitude, which have helped her while teaching VBS, Sunday School, summer camps, and Camp Meeting. She is now pursuing her Associate degree in Early Childhood Education.
Debbie and her husband Van have been married over twenty-five years. They have five children and two grandchildren that they are very proud of.
