Children's Ministries

TNC wants to reach as many children as possible and help them develop a personal relationship with Christ that is rooted in their everyday lives.

Through the demonstration of real life examples of Christ and His love, we train teachers and volunteers to reach children deeply with unconditional love. We partner with parents in developing a child's spiritual walk on a daily basis. We deliver the "Good News" in an interactive way that children can relate to with enthusiasm.

Your children can be involved in life-changing experiences here at TNC. There are a number of classes and groups available. Click a More Info button below to connect with Pastor Debbie Hallman, Children's Pastor, to get more information on these fun learning activities.

  • Caravan

Meets Wednesdays, 7:00–8:00 pm, September through May

Caravan is a scouting—or kids' club—type of program for children in Pre-Kindergarten through sixth grade. Classes typically meet once a week throughout the school year. Caravan uses an active, hands-on learning approach to help children grow physically, socially, mentally, and spiritually. Caravan focuses on teaching everyday skills with a distinctly Christian focus. Children are assigned to one of the four major age groups.

    • Benson's Buddies (3 years through Kindergarten)
    • Searchers (first and second graders)
    • Explorers (third and fourth graders)
    • >Adventurers (fifth and sixth graders)

One or more adult guides lead each group.

Benson's Buddies is a Biblically-based, early education curriculum that presents Christian moral standards to young children. As part of Caravan, its focus is on developing the whole child — spiritually, mentally, physically, and socially. It emphasizes Christian character and lifestyle through the Bible and contemporary stories, experience-oriented activities, and scripture memorization.

Searchers learn about the fundamental beliefs of the Church of the Nazarene. They can earn up to fifteen scouting badges a year, which they may display on their Caravan scarf! If a Searcher earns all of their requirements for two years, they receive the Bunker badge.

Explorers learn the Articles of Faith 1-8 of the Church of the Nazarene and four of the Core Values in the Christian Life: holiness, evangelism, missions, and character. They can earn up to eight badges a year, which they may display on their Caravan sash. If an Explorer earns all of their requirements for two years, they receive the Esther Carson Winans badge.

Adventurers learn Articles of Faith 9-16 and four of the Core Values in the Christian Life: service, compassion, education, and work. They can earn up to eight badges a year, which they may display on their Caravan sash. If an Adventurer earns all of their requirements for two years, they receive the Lillenas badge. If an Adventurer earns all of the requirements for not only the two years as an Adventurer, but also the two years as an Explorer, they earn the Phineas F. Bresee Award.
